CompTIA develops vendor-neutral certifications.

A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians. The A+ test contains situational, traditional, and identification types of questions. All of the questions are multiple choice with only one correct answer for each question. The test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any vendor-specific products.

Network+ is a CompTIA vendor neutral certification that measures the technical knowledge of networking professionals with 18 - 24 months experience in the IT industry. Earning the Network+ certification means that the candidate possesses the knowledge needed to configure and operate a variety of networking products. This exam covers a wide range of vendor and product neutral networking technologies that can also serve as a prerequisite for vendor-specific IT certifications.

i-Net+ is a vendor-neutral, entry-level Internet certification program that tests baseline technical knowledge of Internet, Intranet and Extranet technologies, independent of specific Internet-related career roles. Learning objectives and domains examined include Internet basics, Internet clients, development, networking, security and business concepts

Server+ is the newest member of CompTIA's certification family. This certification deals with advanced PC hardware issues, such as RAID, SCSI, multiple CPUs, SANs - and more. There is currently nothing in the industry like this that is vendor neutral, and there is a broad range of support for this initiative, including core support by 3Com, Adaptec, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, EDS Innovations Canada, Innovative Productivity, Sybex, Marcraft, Heathkit and Course Technology.
